Synonyms:
Plants stemless, usually hanging vertically on trunks or branches, reminiscent of species of Iridaceae in their vegetative structure. Leaf blades not articulated with the sheaths. Inflorescences much elongated, with densely set, almost whorled flowers; rachis more or less densely covered with papillae. Sepals and petals reflexed. Lip thick fleshy and rather simple, usually more or less rectangular or square, the apex retuse or emarginate.

Plants in primary or disturbed lowland or hill forest, with preference along streams in the hills.
