Genus Oberonia Lindl. section Aphananthos Schltr., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 1 (1911) 178. Type species: Oberonia cryptantha Schltr.
Synonyms:
Stems very short. Leaf blades articulated with the sheaths. Bracts remarkable long, husk-like, completely covering and concealing the tiny flowers, even when these are fully developed.

Oberonia cryptantha
Oberonia longibracteata Lindl. of subgenus Menophyllum has also quite large bracts, but these do not cover the flowers as complete as in Oberonia cryptantha Schltr.
