Type: Doorman 7 (holo BO).

Synonyms:

Rhizome short. Stems crowded, erect, slender, narrowly clavate, sharply 4-winged, 7.5-9 cm long, at apex to 6 mm diameter, 1-leaved. Leaves subovate-lanceolate, 8 by 1.9 cm, rigidly carnose, base rounded, apex bidentate. Inflorescences terminal from the leaf axil, several in succession, 1-flowered. Pedicel and ovary 1.45 cm long, triangular in cross section, with 3 prominent ribs. Flower resupinated, c. 1.2 cm across. Dorsal sepal oblong, 0.66 cm by 3 mm, apex obtuse. Lateral sepals obliquely triangular, slightly falcate, 0.6 cm by 3 mm, apex obtuse; mentum spur-like, 0.7 cm long, in apical 2/5 distinctly narrowed, apex narrowly obtuse. Petals obliquely linear, 0.6 cm long, in the middle 1, at base 2.5 mm wide, apex obtuse, slightly retuse. Lip 3-lobed in basal third of the blade, clawed, 0.55 by 0.56 cm (excluding the claw); lateral lobes porrect, obliquely broadly ovate, 0.2 by 0.2 cm, concave, obtuse; midlobe transversely elliptic, 0.34 by 0.53 cm, glabrous, at the base with two close, conical, patent teeth, with 5 longitudinal keels separated by grooves, apex slightly retuse. Column 0.25 cm long, stelidia triangular, narrowly obtuse; column-foot 0.7 cm long, the base broader than the column.

Flower white or light yellow, on the lip with one or two violet spots.

Epiphyte in hill forest. Altitude 250 to 800 m.

New Guinea (endemic).

Papua (Puncak Jaya Regency).

Dendrobium doormanii J.J.Sm. is related to Dendrobium versteegii J.J.Sm., but distinguished by the much broader midlobe and the longer, almost pointed spur.
