Type: Kempter s.n. (Kaiser Wilhelmsland, area behind Vanimo) (holo B, lost)

Terrestrial, erect, more than 60 cm high. Stems straight or nearly so, unbranched or sparsely branched, leafy, about terete, covered by the tightly clasping leaf-sheaths, near the middle c. 0.3 cm diam. Leaves erect-patent, lanceolate-elliptic, 15-20 cm long, near the middle 3.8-4.5 cm wide, at the base gradually cuneate-narrowed, below with c. 7 rather prominent nerves, apex acuminate; leaf-sheaths with several prominent veins. Inflorescences terminal or lateral near the apex of the stem, shortly pedunculate, erect; peduncle 1-1.4 cm long, rachis densely several- or many-flowered, to 2 cm long: bracts erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, the lowest one a little longer than the flowers, the upper ones gradually a little smaller. Flowers erect-patent, not resupinate, outside sparsely and minutely furfuraceous, otherwise glabrous. Sepals narrowly ligulate-lanceolate, acuminate, 1.05 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, connate in basal third. Petals falcate-linear, a little shorter than the sepals, acute, towards the base somewhat dilated, the mid-vein outside thickened. Lip in outline oblong, c. 0.7 cm long, shortly acuminate, in the middle very slightly constricted, at the base cucullate or almost saccate-concave, shallowly notched, in the middle with 2 longitudinal, short, parallel keels, at the apex reflexed. Column straight, apically keeled, 0.45 cm long. Ovary cylindrical, shortly furfuraceous, c. 0.45 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1919)
