Type: Kanis 1394 (holo L; iso AMES, CANB, K, LAE)

Terrestrials. Pseudobulb up to 11 cm long, slender, fusiform, erect, 3- to 4-leaved. Leaves suberect, petiolate; blade 8.2-13.8 by 5-6.1 cm, slightly obliquely elliptic to oblong-elliptic, thin-textured; petiole 1.4-2.3 cm long, channelled, widening towards the sheathing base; apex acuminate. Inflorescence to 27 cm long, erect; rachis to 15 cm long, c. 80-flowered, laxly flowered at the base, rather densely so towards the top; floral bracts usually 0.6-0.65 cm long, narrowly triangular, the apex acute to acuminate. Flowers not resupinate. Median sepal to 0.8 by 0.2 cm, oblong-elliptic; margins revolute; apex obtuse; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals 0.65-0.7 by 0.25 cm, obliquely oblong-elliptic; upper two-third convolutely twisted; apex shortly apiculate; indistinctly 5-nerved. Petals to 0.7 by 0.11 cm, linear, sigmoid-curved, margins revolute; apex slightly notched; 1-nerved. Lip 0.65-0.7 by 0.6 cm, with short auricles; auricles c. 0.1 cm long, to 0.2 cm wide at base, the apex broadly and obtusely triangular; blade pentagonal in outline, with 16-20 teeth along the apical margin (in the drawing 18), of which the two median teeth are more than 2X as long as the other teeth; basal pit shallow, surrounded with an indistinct rim. Column 0.08-0.09 cm long [appears to be c. 0.2 cm in the illustration]. Pedicel and ovary 0.9-1 cm long, slender. (After Margoñska et al.,1999)


Sepals and petals light green, lip tinged yellow in mature flowers.

Terrestrial in mixed oak forest; 1350 to 1500 m.

Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
