Plants (10—) 17—30 (—40) cm tall. Rhizome elongated; nodes covered by loose, tubular scales. Leafy stem with creeping basal part, the top part ascending, (2.6—) 7—15 by (0.2—) 0.4— 0.6 (—1) cm. Leaves (4—) 6—8 (—11); petiole canaliculate, (0.2—) 0.4—0.8 (—1) by (0.2—) 0.3—0.4 (—0.6) cm when spread; sheath slightly loose, tubular, (0.4—) 0.6—1 (—1.4) by (5—) 7—8 (—10) mm; blade oblique, often ovate to lanceolate, (1.5—) 3—5 (—7) by (0.8—) 1.3—2 (—2.5) cm; apex attenuate and apiculate; 3-nerved. Inflorescence long flowering, erect, (7.8—) 10—17 (—22) cm long; peduncle (3.9—) 5—8 (—10) cm long; raceme (3.8—) 4.5—8 (—15) cm long, densely 20—50 (—60)-flowered. Sterile bracts reflexed, linear-triangular, 0.155—0.75 by 0.18—0.2 cm; apex acute. Floral bracts deflexed, narrowly triangular to lanceolate, (0.15—) 0.25—0.3 (—0.35) by 0.099—0.1 cm; apex acute to shortly apiculate, acute; 1-nerved. Ovary and pedicel sinuate, 0.45—0.8 cm long. Flowers 0.4—0.55 cm in diam. Tepals often with papillose convexities at base. Median sepal ovate to ovate-oblong, (0.33—) 0.35—0.37 by 0.18—0.22 (—0.25) cm; margins revolute; apex obtuse. Lateral sepals oblique, ovate, (0.28—) 0.3—0.33 by 0.2—0.23 (—0.26) cm; apex obtuse to rarely subacute. Petals slightly oblique, elliptic, 0.28—0.3 by 0.19—0.22 (—0.24) cm; base cuneate; apex subacute to acute; 1-veined. Lip often cordate to rarely slightly sagittate, (0.2—) 0.25—0.3 by (0.11—) 0.15—0.1.9 cm; midlobe obtuse to apiculate at apex, not distinct from lateral lobes; lateral lobes short, falcate, 0.06—0.12 by(0.05—) 0.06—0.08 (—0.1) cm; apex obtuse to rounded; central part with 2 subparallel, longitudinal lamellae 0.08—0.12 by 0.01—0.03 (—0.04) cm, c. 0.01 cm thick separated by a shallow depression, lamellae at base fused into a callus; basal callus triangular, 0.02—0.03 by 0.03—0.04 cm. Column erect, (0.1—) 0.14—0.18 by 0.05—0.09 cm, whole surface very minutely papillose; staminodes 0.04—0.05 by 0.03—0.04 cm, slightly shorter than the anther, obtuse at apex, intense dark green; anther oblong, 0.05—0.06 by, 0.035—0.045 cm; rostellum slightly longer than the staminodes, triangular, with acute apex, laterally connected with the staminodes; stigma in relatively large pocket. Fruit oblong obovate, 0.6—0.7 by 0.3—0.35 cm.

Leaf sheath green, sometimes tinged fawn; blade shiny, greyish-green above, paler beneath. Inflorescence pale green. Sterile bracts pale green. Floral bracts green to pale green. Ovary and pedicel sinuate, green. Flowers lime-yellow, yellow to yellow tinged purple reddish; sepals tinged bluish or greenish near apices, sometimes purplish tinged (probably when older); petals brighter coloured than sepals. Lip deeper yellow than tepals to orange, darker orange, ochre to maroon in central part. Column paler at base; staminodes intense dark green; anther yellow, turning darker (red to maroon) with age. Fruit fawn to brownish.

Terrestrial on on humus and on volcanic soil, in lowland tolower montane forest, Casuarina forest to mossy rain forest. Altitude 30-1000 m.
Taiwan; Malesia (Moluccas, New Guinea); Solomon Islands.
Warm to intermediate growing terrestrial, requires shaded position.
