Aglossorhyncha fruticicola

Aglossorhyncha fruticicola J.J.Sm., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 11 (1913) 560

Type: Gjellerup 1115 (holo BO; iso L)

Rhizome elongated, creeping, terete, rooting, sheathing, internodes 1.3-1.8 cm long. Stems erect, very much branched, compressed, leafy, 20-25 cm long, internodes of the primary stem 1-2 cm long, those of the very short, widely patent branches 0.4 cm long. Leaves patent, lanceolate, narrowed towards the apex, strongly obliquely narrowly obtuse, base shortly petiolate-contracted, above with sunken, very minutely crenulate-denticulate margins, above on either side of the longitudinal groove convex, underneath convex, thickly carnose, rigid, on the primary stem to 4.8 by 0.7 cm, the contracted base 0.18 cm long, the smallest ones on the branches more ovate, 1.15 by 0.4 cm; sheaths tubular, compressed, minutely, in the apical part coarsely, transversely rugulose, at the apex with a very short, broadly triangular, obtuse tooth opposite the blade, much longer than the internodes, 0.23-0.4 cm wide. Inflorescences at the apex of leafy branches or those with sheaths only, 1-flowered. Median sepal narrowly oblong, obtuse, shortly conical apiculate, slightly convex. 7-nerved, 1.18 cm long, 0.38 cm. wide. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, conical-apiculate, c. 8-nerved, 1.15 cm long, 0.4-0.43 cm wide. Petals obliquely lanceolate, acute or very shortly apiculate-acuminate, at the base 3-, above the base 5-nerved, 1.17 by 1.28-0.3 cm. Lip with the margins involute, cucullate-concave, clasping the column, when not flattened dilated towards apex, 1.1 by 0.33 cm, when flattened ovate, 1.1 by 0.67 cm, underneath ventricose, with the margins in the apical part incurved and swollen, shortly obtusely acuminate, at the base with a transverse, truncate lamella, c. 9-11-nerved, median nerve thickened in the apical part, lip underneath longitudinally grooved. Column almost straight, slightly wavy, slender, clavate, 0.77 cm long, clinandrium deeply concave, winged, 2-lobed, tile-shaped, finely laciniate, auricles wing-like, broad, truncate, dentate, a little shorter than the clinandrium. Anther cucullate, quadrangular, a little longer than wide, conical-umbonate, at the back with a small longitudinal channel, at the apex broad, retuse, 0.17 cm long. Pollinia 4, obliquely oblong, outside convex, inside slightly concave. Rostellum broad, slightly broadly notched. Stigma distinctly semi-orbicular, with margin raised. Ovary 0.5 cm long, entirely enveloped by a small, tubular, obtuse, transversely rugulose scale. (After Smith, 1915).
