Aglossorhyncha jabiensis J.J.Sm., Meded. Rijks-Herb. 23 (1915) 4

Type: Janowsky 404 (holo BO)

Stems elongated, branched, laterally compressed, in cross-section elliptic, to 40 cm long, 0.15 cm wide, internodes 0.7-1 cm long. Leaves erect-patent, narrowly lanceolate, 2.3-4.3 by 0.45-0.57 cm, narrowed towards the apex, at 0.5-0.85 cm below the apex contracted, at the apex strongly oblique, the longer half exceeding the shorter half by 0.2-0.4 cm, along the whole length, but especially in the apical part crenulate, at the base obliquely cuneate and shortly petiolate-contracted, above on either side of the longitudinal groove convex, underneath slightly convex, towards the apex obtusely angled convex, carnose, rigid, shiny; sheaths tubular, laterally compressed, 0.22 cm wide, with a few small longitudinal ribs, at the apex with a short, broadly triangular, obtuse tooth opposite the blade. Inflorescence 1-flowered. Spathe tightly including the ovary and bract, tubular, 0.75 cm long, shortly acutely acuminate, dorsally near the apex obtusely keeled, furfuraceous-finely punctate. Floral bract spathulate, recurved in the apical part, at the apex incurved, conduplicate and dorsally obtusely keeled, concave, with irregular apical margins, 2-nerved, membranous, 0.63 cm long. Median sepal oblong, obtuse, shortly obtusely apiculate, convex, 5-nerved, slightly over 1 cm long, 0.33 cm wide. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, obtuse, apiculate, at the base 3-, above the base 5-nerved, slightly over 1 cm long, 0.38-0.4 cm wide. Petals lanceolate, obtuse, very shortly apiculate-acuminate, 3-nerved, almost 1.1 cm long, 0.25 cm wide. Lip clasping the column but margins not touching each other, when not flattened 0.9 by 0.28 cm, when flattened 5-angular-subovate, shortly acutely acuminate, broad at the base, 0.93 by 0.63 cm, underneath in the apical part ventricose-widened and along the whole length longitudinally grooved, with the margin in the apical part thickened and involute, glabrous, c. 13-nerved, the 3 median nerves inside in the apical part thickened. Column straight, clavate, shorter than the lip, in the apical part winged and 4-lobed, 0.7 cm long, at the apex 0.23 wide, the lobules almost equal, obliquely quadrangular, concave, denticulate, apical lobules slightly longer than the lateral ones; clinandrium deeply concave. Anther hidden by the column-wings, cucullate, quadrangular, at the apex broad and broadly notched, in the basal part conical-umbonate, 0.12 cm wide. Pollinia 4, laterally compressed, oblong-elliptic-obovate, outside convex, inside concave. Rostellum prolonged, broad, broadly notched-bilobed. Stigma concave. Ovary sessile, 6-grooved, sparsely minutely furfuraceous-finely punctate, 0.5 cm long. (After Smith, 1915).
