Terrestrial, erect, up to 130 cm high, several-stemmed. Rhizome short. Roots rather rigid, flexuose, becoming glabrous. Stems unbranched, leafy up to the apex, entirely covered by the close-fitting leaf-sheaths. Leaves erect-patent, linear or linear-lanceolate, acute, up to 40 cm long, near the middle up to 1.5 cm wide. Inflorescences erect-patent, paniculate, shortly pedunculate, laxly many-flowered, branches in two alternating rows. Floral bracts lanceolate, acuminate, as long as or a little longer than the ovary. Flowers erect, glabrous. Sepals lanceolate-ligulate, somewhat acute, 1.5 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, in apical third somewhat dilated. Petals long-clawed, blade obliquely lanceolate-elliptic, apiculate, margin slightly undulate, glabrous, almost as long as the sepals. Lip at the base ligulate-clawed, in front widened into a suborbicular apiculate blade with undulate-pleated margins, with two keels which are parallel at the base, decurrent to the base of the blade and falcate-diverging in front. Column slender, almost terete, 1.3 cm long, glabrous. Ovary cylindrical, glabrous, about 1 cm long. Fruit about 2.5 cm long, cylindrical, 6-ribbed, the ribs slightly undulate. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914, as Corymbis lauterbachii Kraenzl. ex Schltr.).

Note: Differs from the typical variety in the much narrower leaves.
