Type: Schlechter 17393 (syn B, lost; isosyn BO, L, NSW); 19453 (syn B, lost; isosyn E, K, L, NSW)

Terrestrial, erect, 35-55 cm high. Rhizome decumbent, stem-like. Roots elongated, flexuose, villose. Stem straight, leafy to below the middle, terete, glabrous, in upper part with distant, acuminate scale-leaves. Leaves erect-patent, 8-10, crowded, petiolate, blade obliquely lanceolate-elliptic, acute or acuminate, glabrous, 6-16 cm long, near the middle 1.5-3 cm wide, petiole at the base strongly dilated, clasping the stem, 1.5-3 cm long. Inflorescence densely many-flowered, elongated, glandulose-puberulous, rachis up to 17 cm long, about 1 cm diameter across the flowers. Bracts erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, usually more or less longer than the ovary, sparsely glandulose-puberulous. Flowers erect-patent. Median sepal porrect, ovate, obtuse, dorsally cucullate-concave, outside glandulose-puberulous, almost 0.3 cm long. Lateral sepals a little longer than the median sepal, obliquely ovate, obtuse, glandulose-puberulous. Petals about as long as and adhering to the median sepal, obliquely oblong, obtuse, at the base hardly narrowed. Lip almost as long as the petals, porrect, at the base cucullate-saccate, subglobose, apical margins incurved, at the apex extended into an obtuse lobule, sac scarcely protruding in front, inside near the margins below the middle on either side provided with two horns. Column short, in front 2-ribbed, rostellum porrect, distinctly shorter than the ovary, stigma thickened. Anther lanceolate-cucullate, acute, glabrous, at the base subcordate. Ovary cylindrical, glandulose-puberulous, 0.5-0.6 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914).
