Agrostophyllum beleense Ormerod, Orchadian 16 (2011) 566, fig.
Type: L.J. Brass 11461 (holo AMES; iso BRI).
Synonyms:
Epiphytic herb. Roots terete, to 0.1 cm thick. Stems caespitose, complanate, laxly 5-7 leaved, c. 32-34 by 0.35 cm; in lower half covered by leaf sheaths, upper half with partly exposed internodes. Leaves erect, linear-ligulate, 17.7-20.5 by 0.6 cm; leaf sheaths 5-9 cm long, with deltate to lanceolate, acute to subacute stipules 0.1-0.15 cm long; apex inequally acutely to subacutely bidentate, shortly broad apiculate. Inflorescence terminal, composed of several sheaths and bracts, 6 or more flowered, to 2 by 1.5-2.0 cm. Pedicel and ovary subterete, 6.0-6.5 mm long. Median sepal ovate; apex obtuse, shortly cucullate; 3-nerved, lateral nerves branched, 0.5 by 0.32 cm. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate; apex acute to obtuse; 3-nerved, lateral nerves branched, midrib low carinate externally, 0.7-0.8 by 0.39-0.43 cm. Petals irregularly oblong to oblong-elliptic; apex obtuse; 3-nerved, lateral nerves branched, 0.5-0.51 by 0.23-0.27 cm. Lip 3-lobed, 0.89 cm long: hypochile with obtuse- truncate lateral lobes, 0.3 by 0.2 cm wide dorsally, 0.15 cm wide laterally; ligula subquadrate, acutely bidentate, minutely papillose-pubescent, c. 0.19 cm tall; epichile entire, wide rhombic c. 0.59 by 0.7 cm, with subacute, fleshy apex. Column erect, 0.22 cm tall.

Leaf sheath with black-margin. Flowers white, lip (at epichile base?) with yellow.
River valley forest, on mossy bases of trees, growing in large clumps. Altitude 2400 m.
Malesia (New Guinea), endemic.
Indonesia (Papua Province, Jayawijaya Regency).
Cool growing epiphyte.

Agrostophyllum beleense is similar to A. leucocephalum Schltr. in habit and most floral characters and can be distinguished by its entire lip epichile (not trilobulate) which spreads from the hypochile at about 45 degrees (not 60-90 degrees).
