Agrostophyllum triquetrum Ormerod, Orchadian 17 (2011) 42, fig.

Type: NGF 23406 (A.N. Millar) (holo A; lsotypes: BRI, CANB, K, L).

Epiphytic herb. Roots terete, pubescent, fleshy, 0.07-0.15 cm thick. Stems caespitose, subterete, leafy throughout, 13-18 by 0.075 cm at the base, to 0.2 cm wide across the sheaths. Leaves erect, 0.9-1.2 cm apart, linear-ligulate, 2.5-4.2 by 0.175-0.25 cm; leaf sheaths closing high on internode, stipules usually absent, when present falcate-incurved, acute to obtuse, to 1 mm long; apex tricuspidate, cusps 0.09-0.27 cm long. Inflorescence terminal, with several bracts and sheaths, producing 1-2 flowers at a time, 1.2-1.3 by 0.7 cm. Pedicel and ovary triangular in cross- section, 0.56 cm long; each corner with 2 narrow parallel wings, the lower pair of wings spreading out into a pair of triangular flaps behind the lateral sepals. Median sepal oblong-lanceolate, 0.69 by 0.23 cm; apex acute; midrib thickly keeled in upper half; 3-nerved, lateral veins branching at the base. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong-lanceolate, 0.8- 0.81 (0.7-0.75 cm along midrib) by 0.28-0.29 cm; apex acute; midrib keeled in top 2/3rd; 4-nerved. Petals ligulate-lanceolate, 0.595 by 0.1 cm; apex acute; 3-nerved. Lip 3-lobed, c. 0.68 cm long; hypochile c. 2.3 by 0.175 cm, with rounded-truncate lateral lobes; ligula rectangular, bifurcate, papillose-pubescent, raising c. 0.09 cm above the lateral lobes; epichile trilobulate, c. 0.45 by 0.5 cm, its midlobe subquadrate, obtuse, c. 0.1- 0.12 by 0.19 cm. Column c. 0.35 cm long.

Epiphyte in lower montane rainforest, clump forming. Altitude 1370 m.

Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).

Papua New Guinea (Morobe Province).
