Agrostophyllum woitapense Ormerod, Orchadian 17 (2012) 236, fig.
Type: Leiden cult. 20030236 (E.F. de Vogel & A. Vogel) (holo L).
Synonyms:
Epiphytic herb. Rhizome and roots not seen. Stem subterete-compressed, 5(-7) leaved in upper half, covered by leaf sheaths, 31.5 by 0.6-0.8 by 1.2-2.3 cm across the leaf sheaths. Leaves narrowly oblong, 10.1-10.8 by 1.9-2.1 cm, thinly subcoriaceous; leaf sheaths free part 5-8 by 0.6-1.2 cm, with triangular-subfalcate, subacute stipules c. 0.1 cm long; apex with a short triangular mucro. Inflorescence terminal, subglobose, nodding?, with many bracts, sheaths and flowers, c. 1.5 by 2 m. Pedicel and ovary clavate, 0.65 cm long. Median sepal ovate-elliptic, 0.495 by 0.28 cm; apex subacute; upper third weakly keeled; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate, 0.59 (0.51 cm along midrib) by 0.32-0. 33 cm; apex subacute; upper third thickly keeled; 3-nerved. Petals obliquely oblong-lanceolate, 0.46-0.48 by 0.21-0.22 cm; apex obtuse; 3-nerved. Lip 3-lobed, 0.68 cm long; hypochile laterally compressed, retrorse saccate-spurred, 0.33 by 0.18 cm, with obtuse lateral lobes; ligula subquadrate, widely obtusely 2-lobed, retuse-emarginate, papillose, surpassing the lateral lobes by 0.08 cm; epichile widely ovate, 0.35 by 0.52 cm, its upper margins crenulate, with subacute apex. Column stout, 0.3 cm long without anther.

Agrostophyllum woitapense is similar to A. papuanum Schltr. but has narrower leaves (1.9-21 cm versus 2.3-4.0 cm), more attenuate leaf sheaths and a widely ovate lip epichile (versus suborbicular).
