Agrostophyllum yanemense Ormerod, Orchadian 17 (2013) 379, fig.
Type: M.S. Clemens 12087 (holo US; iso MICH).
Synonyms:
Epiphytic (?) herb. Roots terete, pubescent, to 0.2 cm thick. Stems caespitose (?), sublaxly foliose, to 30 by 0.175-0.45 cm wide across the leaf sheaths; at the base terete , higher up compressed. Leaves linear-lanceolate, obliquely erect, 4.8-8.5 by 0.35 cm; leaf sheaths open to the next sheath apex, its stipules lanceolate, acute, 0.45-0.6 cm long; apex deeply bidentate, tips 0.1-0.2 cm long. Inflorescence terminal, to 2 by 0.8-1.2 m; at the base enclosed by 3-4 broad sheaths, containing numerous bracts and smaller sheaths, successively 1-3-flowered at a time. Pedicel and ovary subterete, 0.85 cm long. Median sepal broadly oblong-lanceolate, 0.73 by 0.3 cm; upper third carinate; apex acute; 5-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong-lanceolate; upper half carinate; apex subacute; 5-nerved, 0.85 by 0.3 cm (0.8 cm along midrib). Petals obliquely oblong-lanceolate, c. 0.7 by 0.22 cm; apex acute; 3-nerved. Lip 3-lobed, 0.8 cm long; hypochile c. 0.35 by 0.2 cm, 0.1 cm high, shortly retrorse saccate, inside with a thick median keel, its lateral lobes oblique; ligula subquadrate, widely bidentate, papillose pubescent, raising, c. 0.1 cm above the lateral lobes; epichile trilobulate, 0.45 by 0. 57 cm, at the base with 2 low fleshy thickenings, its lateral lobules dolabriform, its midlobule subquadrate, c. 0.18 by 0.24 cm. Column semiterete, 0.5 cm long (without anther cap).

Agrostophyllum yanemense is closely related to A. spinuliferum Ormerod ssp. spinuliferum but differs in the shorter stems (to 3 versus 3.4-4.15 cm), obliquely erect leaves (not stiffly erect), leaf sheaths that are open right down to the next sheath apex (not 3/4 of the way), shorter leaf sheath stipules (0.45-0.60 versus 0.68-0.83 cm), flowers with broader petals (0.22 versus 0.18 cm) which are oblong-lanceolate (not ligulate-lanceolate), and a subquadrate epichile midlobule (not transversely oblong-elliptic).
