Stem erect, stout, to 21 by 0.4 cm. Stem erect, at the base the internodes largely covered by tubular leaf sheaths without developed leaf blade. Leaves apical on the stem, 4- 6, suberect,, lanceolate-elliptic; sheaths tubular; blade shortly petiolate 9- 30 by 2- 6.5 cm, with acuminate apex. Inflorescence axillary, from the upper third of the stem, 2-6-flowered, to 30 cm long. Flowers 4.5 cm across. Pedicel and ovary curved, 2.3 cm long. Median sepal 2.4 by 5 cm, oblong-lanceolate; apex acuminate. Lateral sepals 2.4 by 0.6 cm, oblong-lanceolate; apex, acuminate. Petals 2.4 by 0.4 cm, lanceolate; apex acute. Lip shallowly 3-lobed, 18 by 16 mm; hypochile with lateral lobes not entirely enveloping the column, oblong; their base adnate to the column for c. 0.3 cm, inside hairy, with a very short, conical, 0.16 m long spur; epichile oblong, in front rounded, with shortly apiculate apex, upper surface densely pubescent but median only between the keels; margins undulate, keels at the base 2, fleshy, ridge-like, straight. somewhat apart, near the apex with 2 short verrucose. Column 1.4 cm long, in front near the base densely pubescent, its apex hood-like, erose; anther 0.2 cm across, densely long papillose

Flower yellow, sepals and petals inside with longitudinal redbrown streaks which fuse towards the top. Lip lighter yellow with whitish front margins bordered by a band of redbrown streaks, inside with redbrown streaks and dot, the front callus with light brownish dots, hairs white.

Terrestrial in lowland forest, in medium to deep shade. Altitude 550 m.

Malesia (New Guinea), Australia (North and East Queensland), Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga.
