Plant to 20 cm long. Roots 0.1—0.24 cm diam , finely villose, later becoming almost glabrous. Stem not branched, 30-40 by 0.4—0.7 cm; internodes to 1—3 cm long. Leaves erect-patent, up to 3.0 cm distant; sheaths distinctly recurved, up to 3.0 cm long; blade linear to (oblong-)linear, 15—31 by 2.5—5.2 cm; apex unequally and obtusely bilobed; 9- to 13-nerved; unequally ribbed. Inflorescence 10.3—48.0 cm long, paniculate or racemous, erect to pendent, rather densely 33- to many-flowered, distinctly pubescent; peduncle 7.0—40 cm long, erect, much longer than the terminal rachis; branches up to 8, (sub)pendent, 2.5—16.5 cm long, up to 90-flowered, the basal branches sometimes also branched; terminal rachis 2.0—13 cm long, up to 70-flowered, side-branch rachi 2.0—10 cm long. Floral bracts triangular, 0.1-0.5 cm long; apex acuminate. Pedicel and ovary 0.15—0.25 cm long, minutely pubescent (to subglabrous). Median sepal obovate-oblong to broadly linear, 0.35—0.65 by 0.1.—0.17 cm; apex obtuse to acute, sometimes apiculate; often keeled; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals slightly falcate, obovate-oblong, 0.27—0.45 by 0.13—0.15 cm; apex acute to obtuse, apiculate; 3-nerved (rarely 5-nerved), but veins sometimes obscure. Petals linear to narrowly oblong-ovate, 3.2—6.0 by 0.8—1.1 mm; apex obtuse to acute, 1- or 3-nerved. Lip 3-lobed; midlobe recurved to nearly straight, at a <90° angle to the spur, 0.13—0.18 by 0.13—0.18 cm, broadly ovate to orbicular-ovate, with acute to rounded apex, thickened at base (triangular in longitudinal section); without median callus between the lateral lobes. Lip 3-lobed; lateral lobes erect, almost square, obliquely truncate to triangular, 0.07—0.1 by 0.15—0.17 cm, apex acute; spur 0.35—0.42 by 0.1—0.15 cm, oblongoid, slightly inflated, incurved, with rounded apex, subglabrous to minutely pubescent; back wall tongue oblong, deeply bifid, 0.11—0.17 by 0.05—0.09 cm, attached about half-way down the spur. Column stout, 0.05—0.12 by 0.09 cm; rostellum 0.04—0.05 cm long. Stigma 0.5—0.6 by 0.4—0.5 mm, trapeziform, deeply concave.. Anther 0.01 by 0.08—0.12 cm (including beak). Pollinarium with 4 pollinia; stipe linear, 0.07 by 0.02 cm; viscidium 0.03 cm long; pollinia 4 in 2 pairs, each pair 0.025—0.03 by 0.02—0.025 cm, subspheroid, composed of a smaller body (0.02—0.025 by 0.01—0.015 cm), and a larger body (0.025—0.03 by 0.015 cm). Capsule 1.2—2.0 by 0.2—0.3 cm, cylindrical, pubescent, sessile.

Flower white (type of Pomatocalpa leucanthum), or white with pinkish markings.Flowers whitish or pale pink, often with 2 longitudinal darker stripes on petals, or broad pinkish violet streaks on sepals and petals.

Lowland evergreen forest, dipterocarp forest and swamp forest, on tree trunks or branches in shady to open areas. Altitude 0- 750 (-1000) m.

Malesia (Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Moluccas, New Guinea, Philippines), Thailand.
