Synonyms:
Rhizome short. Pseudobulbs ovate, epigeous, c. 5 cm high, c. 5 cm diam., with c. 5 internodes, the internode in the middle much longer than the others, pseudobulb sometimes with 4 or 5 flattened sides, 3- to 5-leaved. Leaf petiolate, deciduous; petiole persistent, 6-8 cm long; blade 50 by 4-7 cm. Inflorescence arising from the base of the pseudobulb, tomentose. Floral bracts 1.5 by 1.5 cm. Flower 4.5 cm wide, not fragrant. Sepals broadly ovate, 2.5 by 2 cm, obtuse. Petals broadly ovate, 2.7 by 1.8 cm, obtuse. Lip 3-lobed; lateral lobes spreading horizontally when flattened, narrowly obliquely obovate, 1.2 cm long, apex subtruncate; mid-lobe fan-shaped, clawed, 1.7 cm long, 1.9 cm wide, apex emarginate, claw 1 cm long, just above the base with a small triangular lobule on either side, at the base with a bipartite basal callus. Note: Described from a cultivated plant said to have been collected in New Guinea.
Floral bracts yellow and green. Flower canary yellow, lip with red dots in the basal part.
